Brief historical summary:
Breed was institution in 1950s by Mr. František Horák for laboratory purposes. Breed purpose was uniform type of dog with accent on calm, placid temperament, high-level fertility, low-level grooming, with suitable physique, size and coat. First sire and dame had unknown origin -- bitch was like German shepherd, dog was like Fox Terrier Smooth. To their offsprings was interbred German shorthaired pointer. Breed was as Horákův laboratorní pes (Horak labory dog) officially recognized in the year 1960. In 1980s it stop being exploited for research and remainder animals purveyed to breeder public with name Cesky Strakaty Pes. Followed breed inhibition and because of lack stock animals and narrow gene pool be considered mongrelised with some ones unknown origin with true exterior and one small Münsterlander.

General appearance:
Medium-big size tricoloured pinto dog harmonic built but not really heavy, balanced proportion, gently rectangle frame, strong structure, but no lymph and crude.

Important proportion
Size of body index: The length of the body is about 10-20 % over the height at the withers.
Height index: The height of the thorax is 5/10 of the height at the withers.
Length of the head index: The length of the head is 4/10 of the height at the withers.

Behavior and temperament:
Companionable to the people and animals, active, sedulous, versatile companion dog. Brightly watches surroundings, if necessary he becomes a brave protector of people, house and property, but no aggressive.

Head:
Light, tedious, slightly wedge-shaped with rather flat stop. Length of the head is about 4/10 of the height at the withers. Skull flat, muzzle is same length as the skull. The nasal bridge is flat. Muzzle is not affect as pointed, lips closely fitting the jaws. Nose is keeping with the colour of the dog -- black, when dog is tricolour in black, yellow and white, brown when dog is tricolour in brown, yellow and white, always well pigmentation. Nose is slightly rising over forward edge of the lips. Skin on the head is fine, free from wrinkles. Long-haired ones have short coat on the head too. Head should matches gender at the first sight – bitch head is gently, dog has massive head.
Jaws/teeth:
Scissors bite, both jaws must have six incisives and two canines. Well developed big teeth set square to the jaws. Absence some premolars and molars is characteristic for breed, there is not disqualifying fault. Complete in number is advantage.
Eyes:¬
Iris is dark brown for black, yellow and white dogs, lighter for brown-yellow-white ones, almond shape, eyeballs not protruding, pigmented eyelids, well adjacent to eyeballs. Heavy eyelids are fault.
Ears:
Button ears, triangular shape, close to the temples, rather small. Stretch reaching into corner of the mouth by tips. Fold is closely above the level top of the head.
Neck:
Not very tall, crossways carried, tapering towards head, suitable powerful, free from throatiness, which however need not make up marked dewlap.

Body
Back:
Straight, firm, slightly climbing from the front to the back, withers clearly rise on the top line.
Loins:
Rather longer, straight.
Croup:
Straight alternatively gently inclined, no converted.
Chest:
Well formed, but no too deep, roomy, however no barrel - shaped. Seen from the top chest gently narrows to rear. Its depth is greater than its width. Distance from elbows to withers is same like distance from ground to elbows.
Underline and belly:
Chest lower margin achieving toward elbow joint. Belly is firm, hollowed.
Tail:
It is inserted not very high on the rump line, tapering towards end. If stretched is to the hock at least. It is carried with slight curve upwards as sabre and above the back level. Curled to form a ring above back is allowed. Curled to form a ring in beside position is unadvisable. Hair on tail is in keeping with individual type of coat.

Limbs
Forequarters:
Well angulated, parallel, moderately heavy in bone. Elbows direct straight to the back, close to the rib cage, are not valgus, nor bandy. Forearm is straight , seen from any side and has well mature dry muscles.
Hindquarters:
Parallel, well angulated, modertately strong bone structure, muscles well defined. Seen from back are straight. Hock is firm.
Feet:
Are not too large, rather cat's foot, well arched toes, nails are strong. Nail pigmentation is not clause.

Gait/Movement:
It is agile, roomy, continuous, smart. It is very productive and relentless. Natural movement is low trot with diagonal drift limbs at maintenance unchanging line spine. Run is light, lively and roomy.

Coat:
Present two variants coat: short and long. Short coat is double; undercoat is perceptible first in winter. Hairs on lower side neck, rear side thighs and lower parts tail are slightly longer, but adjacent, as well as all over body. Long coat is only slightly curly, also with underhair, floating. Is shorter on head and front forequarters, markedly longer is again round ears, on neck forms mild collar, on breast, chest and belly floats. On pectoral limbs forms feathers, on the rear legs breeches. Feather is also on tail. Both variants are equivalent, any is not preferred.
So - called crossing type coat - - occurrence markedly longer hair on rear side thighs and longer outstanding coat on lower parts tail at some short - haired individuals isn't reason for penalization.
Colour:
Always tricolour, occur two standard type colouring: black- yellow- white and brown- yellow - white. Black-yellow-white one has black nose, dark eyes, brown-yellow-white one has liver nose and lighter eyes. Of these two variants isn't give priority, both are equivalent.
Basic colouring is dark (black/brown) with yellow patches, always in combination white. Ideal ratio among hemochromatosis and no hemochromatosis spot on body is 1:1. Whites areas must be yellow spotted in yellow patches, black/brown spotted in black/brown patches. Size or density flecks is not decisive, but spotted areas would didn't have generate impression roan.

Height in the withers:
For males from 45 cm to 53 cm. For females from 43 cm to 51 cm.

Faults:
Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and diffusion.
Especially these faults should be penalized:
Incorrect body size, straight stifle, barrel hocks or cow hocks, arched loins, overbuilt back, little room gait, poor muscles, overweight, lack sexual expression, distinct dewlap. Lack chromatosis, missing yellow drawing on head, quite black head, light eye, wrong carried or formed ear, ram’s nose, teeth in addition, slightly irregular bite, pincer bite. Too short coat, missing undercoat, curly or flyaway hair.

Disqualifying Faults:
All expressive abnormalities from standard, especially breed type faults, overshot, undershot, considerable irregular bite, missing incisive(s)or canine(s), more than ± 2 cm height at the withers, lacking of the tricolour, coarse hair with whiskers, cryptorchidism, fearfulness, aggresses, V - cut or other deformation tail.

Note:
Males should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum. Animals apparently have physical or mental abnormality must be disqualified.
